Cedabond Dinner and Workshop 2009
Posted 29th May 2009

Full of enthusiasm and vigour for the year ahead, Cedabond held its biennial Member/Supplier dinner and workshop and AGM during week 4th May, at the well appointed Celtic Manor, South Wales.

This event was all about positives – facilitating Members’ business with Suppliers, a renewed look at marketing support and plans for building business, coming out of the recession and beyond.

In keeping with a positive start, Members enjoyed a relaxed, but competitive game of golf, ably overseen by Roland Allen’s Linsay Garfitt.

1st Place – Bob Mackie – Zodiac
2nd Place – Peter Brindle – Instanta
3rd Place – Simon Harding – HES
Longest Drive – Ian White – Mechline
Nearest the Pin – Paul Heppner – TSI
Lady’s Prize – Vita Whittaker – Whitco
Booby Prize – Gary Allen – E & R Moffat

Suppliers arrived and began set up, ready for the workshop the following day. In the evening, Members and Suppliers enjoyed a relaxed buffet.

As 34 Members met with 40 Suppliers, the Workshop rolled on smoothly throughout the day. Members and Suppliers got to meet face to face. Phone and email is all fine, but what a great way to meet industry colleagues, old and new. Suppliers presented their new products, informed Members of changes within their companies; Members talked about their projects on the go and future work and shared buying and marketing knowledge.

“Just a quick email to thank you and your respective teams for all the hard work which was obviously put in to ensure the Workshop ran smoothly. Your attention to detail was first class resulting in the whole event being enjoyed by both members and suppliers.” Steve Williams, The Stewart Company

“... it was fantastic and will prove to be very worthwhile and thank you and your team for organising a great workshop” Jon & Kim Urquhart, Boss Furniture

“Just a quick courtesy e-mail to say thanks for arranging what I thought was overall a well organised and particularly useful event. Please keep up the hard work you do on behalf of the members, which does literally pay dividends! Venue and service was great too…” Marios Poumpouris, Chiller Box Ltd

“It was a great success for Hobart Independent and a very enjoyable time was had too.” Stuart Bester, Ecomax

After a busy day, it was time to freshen up before the drinks reception and Awards dinner which was thoroughly enjoyable – great food, great atmosphere and great company.

In 2008, Mechline delivered truly exceptional growth with Cedabond – impressive 32% growth, breaking through the £1 million turnover level for the first time.

The final morning was all about Cedabond Directors presenting to its Members and Suppliers about the consortium’s performance. Deborah Campbell, the newly appointed Marketing Executive, gave presentations on current and future marketing activities, including the new look promotional brochures, featuring best sellers throughout the year, together with details of discounted data and fulfilment services, available to Members. Support for the promotion of Suppliers’ Golden Products, new products and company news will be (and has been) stepped up. Look forward, also, to more online activity and possibly marketing workshops in the future. Feedback is always appreciated and taken on board.
